New Image From The Dark Tower Brings The Menace

There’s nothing quite so electrifying than seeing two beloved performers facing off against each other in dramatic fashion – and that’s exactly what we have in this new still image from The Dark Tower. Loosely based on the book series by Stephen King (and, apparently, something of a sequel to that book series, too), the film stars Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey as diametrically opposed characters Roland Deschain and Walter Paddick – and they are clearly bringing the menace in this newly released glimpse of the film.

The popular story is most often characterized as a science fiction western horror, and this cinematic adaptation will see a young boy named Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) stumble across evidence of the existence of another dimension, known as Mid-World. Suddenly transported, he crosses paths with a solitary gunslinger called Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) and becomes embroiled in his quest to reach The Dark Tower. Mid-World has been slowly deteriorating and Deschain is convinced that salvation lies at The Dark Tower, which occupies the nexus of time and space. However, the evil sorcerer Walter Paddick (Matthew McConaughey) is determined to stop them.

The Dark Tower movie has been highly anticipated for some time, after a few false starts with different directors in years past. It’s now being helmed by Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair), from a script that he co-wrote with Akiva Goldsman, Anders Thomas Jensen, and Jeff Pinkner. Having been previously slated for a release in the spring, The Dark Tower was recently pushed back to July 28th, 2017 – right at the height of the summer season, which can only bode well for those hoping for something special.
