Well, it looks like the name change we reported about before is 100% official as this new poster for the upcoming Martin Scorsese family film, Hugo, isn’t sporting extra baggage as far as the title is concerned.
Hugo was originally supposed to be called The Invention of Hugo Cabret, but then they diluted it down to simply Hugo Cabret and now it looks like they can’t make it any shorter.
I’m not really digging the new title at all. It sounds too plain and leaves us with no idea what the film is about. That being said, this is a Martin Scorsese film and he’s not a director who disappoints.
Sure, this is a family film, but I have faith in Marty and I think he’ll deliver. I really hope he can do wonders with the 3D as well. I’ve always felt that 3D can be really beneficial for a film if it’s in the hands of a good director.
The film is an interesting project for Scorsese and I’m eager to see how reviewers react to it. The cast is solid and it all seems rather promising but it’s still quite a departure for the director.
Hugo stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Ray Winstone, Michael Stuhlbarg, Christopher Lee, Jude Law and Chloe Moretz. It will be released in theaters on November 23rd, 2011.
Check out the new poster below, thanks to Coming Soon.
