If there’s one defining trait that underpins the Ocean’s franchise, it’s a suitably suave cast. More than five decades ago, Lewis Milestone gathered a crack team of well-tailored, fiercely intelligent crooks for an old-school heist movie. That tradition continued through Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 remake, one which birthed a trilogy of crime capers headed up George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon and many more well-tailored, fiercely intelligent crooks.

Now, the buck has been passed on to director Gary Ross (The Hunger Games), who has brought together an enviable lineup for his female-fronted spinoff, Ocean’s Eight. Billed as more of a continuation of the Ocean’s series than a full-scale reboot, we now have our first official look at Sandra Bullock and her fellow criminals riding on the New York City subway. She’ll take point as Debbie Ocean, the estranged sister of George Clooney’s Danny Ocean, flanked by an ensemble that includes Cate Blanchett as Lou, Rihanna as Nine Ball, Mindy Kaling as Amita, Awkwafina as Constance, Harry Potter star Helena Bonham Carter as Rose, Anne Hathaway as Daphne Kluger, and Sarah Paulson as Tammy.

Aiming to pull off the “heist of the century” at NYC’s famous Met Ball, expect Ocean’s Eight to feature a familiar mix of razor-sharp dialogue and jazzy music. James Corden, Richard Armitage, Matt Damon (?) and Damian Lewis also star, with the latter poised to play the part of the film’s nemesis and a former flame to Bullock’s Debbie.

Ocean’s Eight slinks into theaters across the globe on June 8, 2018. That means there’s still plenty of time left for Warner Bros. to ramp up excitement, so don’t be expecting a trailer reveal anytime soon.
