This month, the final piece of The Defenders puzzle will fall into place as Marvel’s Iron Fist premieres on Netflix. The show will introduce Danny Rand to the world, and over the course of the 13 episodes, we’ll (presumably) see plans laid down for his inevitable team-up with Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Luke Cage. However, as Marvel Comics fans will no doubt be aware, Rand develops a much closer friendship with the unbreakable Power Man (Mike Colter) than he does with the other three.
In the source material, Luke Cage and Iron Fist join forces to form a separate team known as the Heroes for Hire, and it sounds like this is something former Game of Thrones alum, Finn Jones, would be interested in seeing play out on the small screen at some point.
Here’s what the actor had to say during an interview with Nerdist:
And I do think, going back to the Daughters of Dragon thing, I think it would be awesome to see a television series with the Heroes for Hire and the Daughters of Dragon working together to take down crime.
The Daughters of the Dragon are Colleen Wing and Misty Knight, who will share the screen in The Defenders. In fact, Wing (Jessica Henwick) refers to herself as the “Daughter of the Dragon” in an early episode of Iron Fist when she enters a cage fighting tournament.
While we may well get some hints or references relating to these splinter-groups, actual spinoff shows featuring the teams are unlikely when you consider everything that Marvel and Netflix already have in the pipeline. Then again, if these character combos prove to be popular with fans, who knows?
