As any fan of the long-running Persona series will tell you, the wait for Persona 5 has been nothing short of unbearable. First announced back in 2013, the game has been delayed time after time, with an original release date of late 2014 being pushed back more times than we can count.
Thankfully, it seems like we won’t have to wait much longer to get our hands on the series’ newest entry, as the game’s April 4th release date seems to be set in stone at this point. Even though there’s less than a month left until launch, developer Atlus hasn’t shied away from showcasing some of the characters, mechanics, and story elements, despite the story-heavy nature of the franchise.
In a brand new trailer, we’re introduced to the members of the Phantom Thieves, a group of rag-tag high-schoolers who attempt to purge the world of corrupt individuals while helping those in need. Aside from some glimpses of gameplay, which in traditional Persona style, blends turn-based combat with dungeon crawling, we’re also treated to some snippets of daily life for the Phantom Thieves, as they attempt to navigate teenage life. When they aren’t saving the world from evil, they have to contend with keeping up with their studies, relaxing and socializing with each other, and scheduling in some time for gaming.
Persona 5 is set to release on April 4 for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. The Japanese version of the game released last year on September 15.
