Mass Effect: Andromeda Will Get Free Multiplayer DLC Maps

There won't be a season pass for Mass Effect: Andromeda, but that doesn't mean the highly-anticipated title won't be receiving post-launch content, quite the opposite, in fact. While the main draw of Andromeda will undoubtedly be its galaxy-spanning single-player offering, the RPG, like its predecessor, will have a multiplayer option too. So far, all signs point to its online mode being relatively similar in structure to what we got in Mass Effect 3, and that looks to be extending to how BioWare plans to handle DLC, too.

There won’t be a season pass for Mass Effect: Andromeda, but that doesn’t mean the highly-anticipated title won’t be receiving post-launch content – quite the opposite, in fact. While the main draw of Andromeda will undoubtedly be its galaxy-spanning single-player offering, the RPG, like its predecessor, will have a multiplayer option, too. So far, all signs point to its online mode being relatively similar in structure to what we got in Mass Effect 3, and that looks to be extending to how BioWare plans to handle DLC as well.

After being posed the question on Twitter (via VG247) of whether players will need to shell out additional cash for any additional multiplayer content, BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn responded by saying “it’s going be just like ME3.”

Various new features, including maps, were added to Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer for free in post-launch updates, so expect the method of delivery to remain largely unchanged for Andromeda. Primed to be much more than a simple afterthought, BioWare has confirmed previously that Andromeda‘s multiplayer component will tie-in to the core events of the story in some form or fashion, although reassures those that prefer to fly solo that such things will be entirely optional.

Mass Effect: Andromeda lands March 21 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in North America and March 23 in Europe. If you missed yesterday’s most recent video, which provides an overview of Golden Worlds and their importance to the Pathfinder’s mission, check it out here.
