To say that Sterling K. Brown currently has his hand in a lot of projects may read as something of an understatement – hot off a scene-stealing performance in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Brown secured key roles across The Predator and Marvel’s Black Panther origin story, two films that are currently brewing in production ahead of their respective 2018 launch dates.
As two of the more high-profile properties in development, it tees up an exciting 12 months for the actor, but Sterling K. Brown has already staked a claim for another project: Green Lantern Corps. The cosmic origin story of Hal Jordan and John Stewart has made serious headway over at Warner Bros. in the past few months alone, after the studio drafted in David Goyer and Justin Rhodes to pen a treatment of the script.
That means WB is yet to fire up the casting process in earnest, though that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from operating at full tilt, linking Armie Hammer, James Marsden, Mahershala Ali, John Wick: Chapter 2 star Common and Trevante Rhodes, who is incidentally set to fight alongside Sterling K. Brown in The Predator, to roles in the project.
And so, when EW (via CBM) caught up with the actor to discuss Shane Black’s R-rated reboot (spoilers: it’s “very different” from the original), the outlet asked Brown for an update on his Green Lantern campaign. There’s nothing new to report on, sadly, but the actor is “still very much interested” in the superhero tentpole.
Let me say that the campaign has never been officially launched. That’s just Brown sending out a tweet innocuously in the middle of the night after he recognized that the role needed to be cast. Like ‘Hey, I like Green Lantern, give it a shot.’ No further updates on the development of the Green Lantern pursuit, but I’m still very much interested and intrigued in playing that role.
The roles of Hal Jordan and John Stewart are still vacant at the time of writing, but tell us, what do you make of Sterling K. Brown’s latest comments regarding Green Lantern Corps? Do you want to see him in the film? As always, let us know below.
