When the PlayStation Network PLAY promotion was announced earlier today, it was surprising to hear that it was going to include four downloadable games which didn’t have any sort of exclusivity deals. Especially so considering how the Summer of Arcade promotion has worked for Microsoft, over the last while.
Now, there’s a report stating that BloodRayne: Betrayal will in fact have an earlier release on PSN than it will on XBLA. While originally slated to release around the end of this month on both services, it will now be available on September 6 for PlayStation 3 owners and October 5 for XBOX 360 gamers.
Speaking to Joystiq, Majesco confirmed this news. However, they didn’t mention whether it had anything to do with Sony‘s newly announced promotion or any sort of timed exclusivity deal. Though it’s a pretty good guess that it could be the reason.
In related news: fighting fans who can’t wait to get back into the worldly virtual combat in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition need not worry about the XBOX 360 version receiving a delay due to this promotion. It is still scheduled to release on August 23 for PSN and August 24 for XBLA. Capcom confirmed these release dates via its Unity Blog.
If we hear anything more about release date changes related to this promotion, we shall let you know. Keep checking back.
