“The Supreme Leader is dead, long live the Supreme Leader.”
Much to the chagrin of General Armitage Hux, by the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the man once known as Ben Solo seized control of the First Order and began hunting down the tattered remnants of the Resistance. It’s a pursuit that leads Kylo Ren all the way to Crait, the mineral world on which Leia and her allies take shelter in an old, decrepit outpost once used by the Rebel Alliance.
And just when you think the fight is over, Luke Skywalker (and Chewie! And Rey!) swoop in to save the day. But at least according to a newly-released companion magazine for The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren wasn’t the only apprentice trained by Supreme Leader Snoke – there is “at least one other.”
Force-sensitive, and highly attuned to the dark side but not a Sith, Snoke has trained Kylo Ren and at least one other apprentice.
Who, you ask? That’s a very good question, and one that will likely remain shrouded in secrecy until the release of Episode IX in two years’ time. Indeed, assuming this tidbit holds true, a second apprentice could spell bad news for Kylo Ren, who killed Snoke in order to save Daisy Ridley’s Rey at the 11th hour. But like all other Star Wars allegations, we advise approaching this potential story clue with caution.
Despite new arrivals in the vein of Jumanji and Pitch Perfect 3, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is expected to reign supreme at the global box office for the second week on the trot. It’s since blown past $500 million worldwide, and will likely inch closer to that all-important $1 billion milestone once Rian Johnson’s visually stunning sequel hits China on January 5th.
