As awesome as the first two episodes of Black Lightning were, we can’t wait to see where the series goes in the next few weeks now that we’ve gotten the world building out of the way and can truly get to the meat of the story. And even though the drama and the social commentary have been but a few things that have gotten us hooked, we’re looking forward to seeing more superhero action, as Jefferson Pierce has shown us on a couple of occasions already that he’s capable of entering a building and kicking the crap out of everybody, much like the Green Arrow.
So, while we wait, feel free to indulge in a gallery filled with character portraits spotlighting the show’s major players. To date, The CW has done a fine job of assembling solid ensemble casts, and this particular project has been no exception. Among these images (via ComicBook.com), we see Cress Williams as both Black Lightning and Jefferson Pierce, Lynn Pierce (Christine Adams), Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams), Jennifer Pierce (China Anne McClain), Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III), Gambi (James Remar), Inspector Henderson (Damon Gupton) and the soon-to-be introduced Lady Eve (Jill Scott).
In related news, a synopsis has surfaced today for episode 1×05, “Aches and Pains,” which is set to air on February 13. In it, we’re teased with learning more about Jefferson’s past, in addition to his daughters embarking on journeys of their own. Don’t forget that Anissa and Jennifer are fated to become Thunder and Lighting, respectively, and are superheroes in their own right.
Here’s what we have for you to sink your teeth into at the moment:
PAYBACK IS A BITCH – An unexpected phone call unearths the long-buried need for Jefferson (Cress Williams) to investigate the murder of his father. Meanwhile, Annisa (Nafessa Williams) wrestles with the fact that her actions have dire consequences. Lastly, Jennifer (China Anne McClain) learns the importance of controlling her temper – in all situations. Christine Adams, James Remar, Damon Gupton and Marvin Jones III also star. The episode was written by Adam Giaudrone and directed by Rose Troche (105). Original airdate 2/13/2018.
Black Lightning airs on Tuesday nights on The CW.
