Peter Quill has come a long, long way from heckling aliens on Morag, as he’s about to buddy up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes for Avengers: Infinity War.

It’s not a film that Chris Pratt is taking lightly, either, after the MCU fan-favorite took to Instagram (h/t ComicBook.com) to issue a heartfelt thank you to Marvel Studios and its immense fanbase. Ten years is a lifetime in the movie business, after all, and since 2008, Pratt has headlined two Guardians movies and helped cemented Star-Lord’s reputation as a household name. But in 2018, his Marvel career will reach dizzying new heights as Pratt’s gun-toting space cowboy seemingly has a “great role” in Infinity War.

Ten years in the making! I’m humbled to be part of this #MarvelClassPicture and to have such a great role in the upcoming Avengers Infinity War.

Pratt continued:

The movie, as you can tell, is going to be off the freakin’ chain. Marvel Studios has not only changed my life and the lives of every person in this photo they have entertained millions, if not billions of people around this planet. I’m so thankful to everyone at Marvel for the opportunity of a lifetime. And to the fans for making each movie such an event. I hope to work for the studio for a long time. I know they have many more stories to tell. I believe the best is yet to come.

The first port of call for Star-Lord and the Guardians will be to ensure Thor finds a new weapon before waging war against Thanos. And it’s this galactic mission that will purportedly steer them in the direction of Nidavellir, a Dwarven world populated by some of the best smiths in the Nine Realms. They’re competent enough to forge a worthy successor to Mjolnir, too, given the God of Thunder is expected to wield the mighty Jarnbjorn when the lights go down on May 4th.

Because make no mistake, Avengers: Infinity War is one of the most hotly-anticipated movies of the past decade, so it’s only fitting that it’s part of Marvel’s 10-year celebration of the MCU.
