Though Hollywood’s horror genre has played host to a great number of scream queens (or ‘final girls’, if we’re sticking to the unofficial term) over the years, they all owe a debt to Laurie Strode.
So whereas Sally Hardesty (Marilyn Burns) gripped viewers with her desperate fight for survival in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) experienced A Nightmare on Elm Street, there’s always been something special about Jamie Lee Curtis, whose Laurie Strode crossed paths with Michael Myers (AKA The Shape) and lived to tell the tale.
That was in 1978. But now, as we approach Halloween‘s 40th anniversary, director David Gordon Green is about to introduce a new generation of scream queens in Judy Greer (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Andi Matichak, who have signed on to play Karen and Allyson Strode, respectively.
The latter will be the granddaughter of Laurie Strode, and below, you’ll find two brand new Halloween set pics (along with a few previously released snaps): one from Matichak; the other from Jamie Lee Curtis, who yesterday drew attention to her own movie chair and its supernatural neighbor.
This is Jamie Lee Curtis’ first foray into the Halloween franchise in almost 16 years, and it’s a homecoming that she’s simply relishing. Indeed, ever since the cameras started rolling, Curtis has shared a number of set photos (and a portrait!) to keep curious fans in the loop.
Because with Michael Myers plotting a comeback, she’ll soon have her back against the wall. But there’s strength in family, and we know Laurie will be able to call upon the help of Karen and Allyson Strode when shits hits the fan. And let’s face it, in this genre, it’s only a matter of time before things start to go awry.
Halloween hits up Haddonfield on October 19th.
