Is Thor Getting His Cape Back For Avengers: Infinity War?

Out of all the characters in Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War, the one who will perhaps see the most change is Chris Hemsworth's Thor. That's not too surprising, either, given the state he was left in at the end of Ragnarok, but from a new weapon to slightly different armor, not to mention a potential replacement eye, the fan favorite hero will be undergoing some significant alterations in the pic.

Along with all of that, though, could we expect to see the God of Thunder get his classic red cape back, too? That’s certainly what this most recent piece of tie-in merchandise seems to suggest. As you’ll see in the gallery below, some new Avengers mini-figures are on the way and of course, Thor will be one of them. But what’s interesting is that he’s pictured with his cape here.

As you surely know, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen it on him, as that Vanity Fair photoshoot from late last year also showed the character wearing it. Back then, we weren’t sure if that meant he’d have the cape in the film (he did lose it in Ragnarok, after all), but this new toy is only fueling the speculation and you can check out both pics down below to see for yourself what all the fuss is about.

Intriguing, right? Of course, Thor isn’t the only one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes who’s poised for an upgrade/wardrobe change. After Spider-Man: Homecoming, we know that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will be suiting up as the Iron Spider, while we also expect Tony Stark to be bringing along some new enhancements of his own when the lights go down in theaters on May 4th. Oh, and did we mention that T’Challa will be giving Cap an upgraded shield, as well?

Getting back to the God of Thunder though, and after raking in close to $820 million worldwide, Thor: Ragnarok has undoubtedly cemented its place in the Marvel pantheon. It sets the stage quite nicely for Avengers: Infinity War, too, given one of Ragnarok‘s post-credits scenes showed the almighty Sanctuary II (AKA Thanos’ gargantuan warship) looming into view. May 4th is the date for your diaries.
