Evidence continues to mount that Peter Parker’s young Web-Head will be donning the Iron Spider suit for Avengers: Infinity War.
This latest nugget of Marvel-related intel comes to us by way of Reddit (h/t ComicBook.com), and shows a miniature figurine for the “Iron Spider-Man,” replete with mechanical arms, standing next to Star-Lord and a battle-ready Doctor Strange. You can check it out in the gallery down below, along with some other recent merch.
Truth be told, it’s a super-suit that has been rumored ever since the credits rolled on Spider-Man: Homecoming, when Tony Stark lifted the curtain on his latest (and arguably greatest) creation. Similar to the Model-Prime armor for Iron Man, comic book fans will know that the Iron Spider armor is equipped with protein-scale nanotechnology, which grants Peter Parker enhanced strength and even controlled gliding.
Also of note, each mechanical arm touts a remote-controlled camera in the tip, allowing our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to peek around corners and get the jump on any nearby assailant – or nearby alien, given Avengers: Infinity War is all set to draft the Outsiders into the equation.
For the uninitiated, those parasitic beasts bow before Thanos and his Black Order, and are seemingly used to invade Wakanda, home to Marvel’s Black Panther. But T’Challa and the Dora Milaje aren’t ones to shy away from a fight, which tells us that Infinity War‘s battle sequence – or at least the one set just outside the walls of Wakanda – will be one for the ages. And if Anthony Mackie is any indication, it’ll also feature Spidey and Drax the Destroyer, who were present on set at the time of filming.
Avengers: Infinity War drops on May 4th – with or without the fabled Iron Spider armor. And after that? The current MCU will reach its finale with the untitled Avengers 4 in 2019.
