AMC Confirms Extended Finale For The Walking Dead Season 8

The Walking Dead's season 8 finale will be an extended one, making it perhaps the perfect primer for the fourth season of Fear The Walking Dead.

Not only will The Walking Dead‘s season 8 finale bring things to a “very satisfying” conclusion, but the episode itself will also run a little longer than normal – from 9:00 pm until 10:10 pm ET, according to AMC.

First spotted by ComicBook.com, episode 8×16, aptly titled “Wrath,” will uphold Walking Dead tradition by stretching into overtime. That ensures season 8 will serve as the perfect primer for season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead, which is set to begin just as its sister show comes to an end – for now, anyway, given Angela Kang and the team are already formulating ideas for The Walking Dead‘s ninth season.

Indeed, thanks to Morgan Jones and his own unique arc, The Walking Dead‘s impending finale will seemingly lead directly into Fear, so it’ll be interesting to watch as this long-awaited crossover begins to unfold.

As for season 8’s extended finale, Norman Reedus (Daryl) was recently quoted as saying that The Walking Dead viewers are in for an overly satisfying conclusion as AMC’s adaptation of All-Out War begins to reach its conclusion. And there will be blood.

There are four things that happen that could be the finale, and they all go off at once at the same time. They head in different directions, and they’re all individually as good as the next, and they’re all very, very satisfying. I like that about it. I like that it’s not just one person’s story. There are probably four, maybe five, different directions that the show could’ve ended on and it went in all of them. It’s very satisfying.

Season 8 of The Walking Dead will officially deliver its climax with the super-sized “Wrath” on April 15th, by which point AMC will be ready to roll out the maiden installment of Fear The Walking Dead season 4. And if you’re curious, both zombie dramas are headed to theaters next month as part of Survival Sunday.
