Without question, Shane Black’s The Predator is one of 2018’s most anticipated films. The director’s decision, however, to form the project as a sequel instead of an outright reboot, isn’t as clear cut. Not only that, but having its release date delayed, twice, and currently undergoing reshoots in Vancouver, some fans now starting to fear the worst – and understandably so.
To keep up morale and, far more likely, the movie in the public eye, one of The Predator’s stars, Sterling K. Brown, recently shared a brief video from the set of the film’s reshoots, which you can watch below. It doesn’t offer up anything terribly revealing, but at this point, we’ll take what we can get.
In the clip, Brown interacts with writer Fred Dekker and co-stars Olivia Munn and Keegan Michael-Key. While it’s difficult to take anything away from the video except for Michael-Key’s mug and Munn’s deafening screech, I must say that the setting does look somewhat sinister.
Early last week, it was announced that The Predator will get a 3D release, to further complicate things, and Dekker also took to social media with a behind the scenes snapshot. These little updates are grand and all, but don’t change the fact that we’re still without a trailer for the pic, which has been in production for quite some time.
The Predator was initially scheduled for a release this past February, which was then pushed to August. Earlier this year, the film’s release date was changed yet again, now slated for a September 14th premiere. Sprinkle in mixed reactions to the test screenings, and the unease surrounding The Predator begins to grow.
We’ve still got a ways to go until it hits theaters, of course, but much like our set visit via Brown’s video, the future isn’t looking too bright for the franchise’s rebirth at the moment.
