Remember when Marvel Studios brought Avengers: Infinity War‘s North American release into alignment with its rollout overseas (read: April 27th), and fears of spoilers were suddenly eradicated? Yeah, scratch that…
As reported by CBM, we’re now learning that Marvel plans to host an exclusive fan screening in the United Kingdom on Sunday, April 8th – almost three weeks before the sequel’s theatrical release. Details of the event are few and far between, though we understand it’ll take place in White City, London, where the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston and Letitia Wright – not to mention directors Anthony and Joe Russo – will all be in attendance.
It’s a private event, so chances are you’ll need an invite, or an absurdly expensive ticket, to attend. And while this announcement will undoubtedly prompt fears of potential story spoilers seeping onto the interwebs ahead of time, we imagine those fortunate enough to see Avengers: Infinity War early will be required to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) to mitigate the chance of spoilers.
As for the film itself, Stephen McFeely, one of the screenwriters credited on Infinity War, believes next month’s blockbuster is very much the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – so far, at least – and all of its many story strands.
This is about the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is about everyone getting together, or trying their hardest to get together, to fight a guy named Thanos. We’ve been teasing Thanos for many movies in 30-second clips, so hopefully all the lead up will allow us to really go to town with him and make him a villain that requires this epic level of storytelling That is the word I would use most often. It’s ridiculously big.
On April 27th, Avengers: Infinity War will place Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on a collision course with Thanos (and the Black Order!) in what promises to be one of the most ambitious – one of the most audacious – superhero movies ever attempted.
