While Hollywood has been treating him well with back to back box office hits including Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Fast Five and Legion (ok, maybe not Legion), actor Tyrese Gibson is ready to end his over four year hiatus from music.
Best recognized musically for songs like Signs of Love Making, Sweet Lady and Lately, Tyrese released his last album in 2006, introducing a rap alter-ego named Black Ty. That introduction however failed with music listeners, who only embraced his R&B/soul single One that year – which peaked at no. 26 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs Chart.
Yesterday, Tyrese confirmed that this next album, titled Open Invitation, will be for the “clubs” and “the bedroom’ — leaving his Hip Hop alter-ego off the map.
“Other than the ballads and sexy jointz.. At your request I got some tempo on the album We in the clubs and the bedroom!!,” Tyrese told fans on Twitter this week.
Open Invitation, while not his first album, also marks a new beginning for the actor as it will be released via his own imprint, Voltron Recordz.
In related news, Gibson shot a music video for his single Stay with actress Taraji P. Henson on Monday, although at this point, it’s unknown when that will premiere.
Be sure to check out Open Invitation, due out on November 11th.
