Gamers were outraged earlier this week when it was discovered that a company-wide order went out at GameStop to remove a coupon in PC copies of the hit new game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This coupon entitled the purchaser to a free copy of the game on game streaming service OnLive.

According to what an anonymous source tells Kotaku, GameStop is now offering a free $50 gift card for anyone that has purchased the PC edition of the game.

Now before everyone rushes out to buy a copy of the game just for a free gift card, you’re probably outta luck, as a company-wide memo also went out to pull the game from shelves (again, only at GameStop) for a recall. Unless you live in an area that has a particularly lazy set of employees (even by GameStop’s standards), you won’t be able to find a copy of the game at your local store.

Gamers have slowly been gaining more and more hatred towards GameStop due to a lack of compassion with gamer’s interests, and overall shady business practices like this one. I know if it wasn’t for the fact that I bought Deus Ex on Steam, I’d be furious. Thankfully, it’s been years since I’ve stepped foot inside a GameStop.

Gamers, what say you? Buyers, you essentially got a free copy of an awesome game. Consider me jelly.
