Though it was just announced this past weekend, the first piece of promo art for Rambo 5 has already surfaced online, and it shows Stallone looking ready for battle.

Well, that didn’t take very long, now did it?

Just this weekend, it was revealed that Avi Lerner’s Millennium, a subsidiary of Nu Image, will be launching sales for a fifth instalment in the Rambo franchise at Cannes this week. That’s hugely exciting it and of itself, but the best part about it is that Sylvester Stallone will be reprising his role as John Rambo and is believed to be working on the script.

And while it’s still early, early days for the project, the first piece of promo art (seen in the gallery below) has already surfaced, showing Stallone – or a drawing of him – with his knife out and buried in the ground, ready for battle.

Of course, we know that said battle will involve the cartel, as a previously released synopsis teases that the film sees John Rambo at work on a ranch until the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped. He then crosses the U.S.-Mexican border and “finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.”

Plot details beyond that are scarce, but it’ll certainly be interesting to see if the character still resonates with audiences this long after he first debuted. Especially when you consider that the last few installments in the series haven’t been that great.

That being said, Rambo is a franchise with a long history, with the first outing – a true action classic – spawning three more movies, the most recent of which releasing in 2008 when Stallone once again took point as the title lead. And despite saying he was done with the part, it seems the actor’s now had a change of heart, which can only be good news for fans of the iconic hero.

There’s still no firm release date for Rambo 5 just yet, but as the promo art tells us, it’s expected to drop into theaters next Fall. As always, watch this space for more.
