Marvel Hopes For The Inhumans To Appear In Other MCU TV Shows

There've been less popular shows like Iron Fist before, but it's widely agreed that by far the weakest Marvel TV series is ABC's Inhumans, which squandered the huge potential of the titular royal family in its disappointing, misguided eight-episode first season. So negative was the reception that the network quietly cancelled the show, with the official chop only coming a month ago.

Just because Inhumans has been axed, though, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see the likes of Black Bolt and Medusa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again. While participating in an AMA on Reddit, Marvel Television president Jeph Loeb was asked by a fan if the cast of the failed series could reappear elsewhere. Loeb’s reply was very positive, if not particularly committal, with the producer saying, “Hope so. We love these characters and the actors are the best!”

The user who asked the question then suggested that the cast could show up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s sixth season, which would actually be the most obvious place for the royal family to appear, especially as the concept of Inhumans has already been introduced in S.H.I.E.L.D. What’s more, there may’ve even been plans to have a proper crossover if the series had lasted past its first season.

Though Marvel fans didn’t exactly fall in love with the likes of Ansel Mount as the silent superhero king or Serinda Swann as his super-haired queen, Black Bolt, Medusa and the rest of the Inhumans have a long history in the comics and deserve some sort of redemption on screen. Maybe an appearance in the next season of S.H.I.E.L.D. or perhaps some other series (Cloak & Dagger? Runaways?) could offer that? We’ll have to wait and see, but don’t be surprised if these characters show their face again somewhere down the road.
