Peter Parker’s set to return to school next month as production on Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 – not its actual title – is pegged to begin this July. With another year at Midtown School of Science and Technology on his hands then, it seems as if Spidey will be getting himself some new classmates.
The first Homecoming already had a large cast of teens to play with, but it looks like the sequel is set to introduce even more. According to info shared by That Hashtag Show, three young actors are being sought to play a batch of fresh faces. One will be a character of a certain ethnicity who’s of non-binary gender, another’s a young woman who may be from the comics and the third goes by the alias “Jason” and is a charismatic senior.
“An 18-22 year old ethnicity to play a gender non-conforming student.
An 18-26 year old actress of any ethnicity, preferably a character actor or comedienne.
An 18-25 year old male, to play a high school senior named “JASON” who is described as “charming and insanely likable.”
Usually, we’d be able to work out who these kids might be by who the character breakdowns most resemble from the comics. Homecoming showed a willingness to shape the Spider-Man mythos into any shape it wanted, however, with many characters being completely reimagined. As such, these new additions could literally be anyone.
Recently, the movie was casting for another new Midtown student, but that one looks set to be Alistair Smythe, an enemy of Peter’s from the comics who goes onto become the Spider-Slayer, as well helping create the Spider-Man-hunting robots of the same name. Rumors point to Spider-Woman featuring in some form as well, but that remains unconfirmed.
For now, all we know is that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is set to swing into cinemas on July 5th, 2019.
