Seriously folks, if The Walt Disney Company is gonna take another run at acquiring 21st Century Fox, we’ll all need to do our part and pitch in.
In case you missed it, Comcast unveiled its $65 billion all-cash offer for the rights to intellectual properties owned by 21st Century Fox – including Deadpool, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men – earlier today, besting Disney’s bid by a full $10 billion. So, if you’re like me and hope to see a crossover between the mutant brethren and the multi-billion dollar franchise that is the MCU, we need to get spending.
As luck would have it, Canadian catalogue UPC has seemingly confirmed that Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has The Avengers and Age of Ultron headed for a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release on August 14th, which is coincidentally the same day that Infinity War is scheduled to hit home video. Although the studio has yet to confirm the street date, Australian store Sanity has also listed both blockbusters reaching the format mid-August, so it looks like a sure thing at this point.
I know it might seem like ages ago, but both The Avengers and Age of Ultron did incredibly well at the ticket booth, with the former to the tune of $1.5 billion and the latter, $1.4 billion – good enough for sixth and eighth place, respectively, on the all-time worldwide box office top ten. They’ve both been passed by Infinity War, though, which just scored a whopping $2 billion globally.
Nevertheless, together they make for one heck of a trilogy and you’ll be able to revisit all three later this year when they make their way to home video. The only question now, is, will you be picking up the entire trio, or just one or two of the films? Be sure to let us know by commenting below.
