Though we’ve known for some time that the team making up the live action Titans series will consist of Robin, Beast Boy, Starfire and Raven, many questions have been raised as to whom will be the big bad. Naturally, fans the world over have been calling for Deathstroke, but if he’s currently tied up in the DC Extended Universe and not even Arrow is allowed to make use of him anymore, then this yet to debut show sure as hell can’t, either.
Fortunately, a big hint regarding season 1’s threat was offered up earlier today – but you may not’ve noticed. You see, in addition to being given our first substantial look at Brenton Thwaites in his badass Robin costume, the following synopsis was provided:
“Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and lovable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.”
Did anything there jump out at you?
In case not, we’ll point out that Rachel Roth (AKA Raven) no doubt has everything to do with the “conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth,” which naturally points toward the arrival of her demonic father, Trigon. If you need a primer on that supremely evil fellow, then we highly recommend that you pick up a copy of the animated movie Justice League vs. Teen Titans. In that, the Trigon-Raven dynamic took center stage, thus leading to a colossal confrontation later on in the picture.
DC Universe – Titans included – is set to launch sometime this fall via iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV, in addition to offering online and mobile access.
