Captain Marvel And Iron Man Team Up On Gorgeous Avengers 4 Fan Poster

If Captain Marvel represents the future of the MCU, leading the franchise into its fourth phase, then does Iron Man represent its past? It’s certainly a popular prediction at the moment that Tony Stark will be meeting his demise in Avengers 4, and even if he survives the final fight with Thanos, it’s likely that his role in forthcoming projects will be reduced as the studio makes room for some (mostly female) fresh faces.

But however things turn out for Carole Danvers and our old friend Tony, for at least one film we’ll have the chance to see the two of them working side by side in a battle over the fate of the universe. Instagram user Ultraraw26 – who recently offered some pretty cool fan art for the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home – has now provided us with the appropriately epic illustration for this expected team-up, along with the ominous caption: “There’s going to be blood on the floor…”

Incidentally, a noteworthy connection was recently observed between Captain Marvel and Iron Man, with the former’s story apparently involving the project known as P.E.G.A.S.U.S., which was first mentioned in 2010’s Iron Man 2 and played a role in the “Secret Invasion” plot of the Captain Marvel comics.

But if you really want to assess the current degrees of separation between these two characters, you have to bring up Nick Fury. The head agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. apparently knew Carole Danvers in his younger days, and the captain’s first solo movie may provide an opportunity to see the events that helped form the eye-patched hero we know today. Moreover, it could be interesting to see how his relationship with the character differs from his interactions with the oft-unmanageable Stark and the rest of the Avengers.

Captain Marvel doesn’t hit cinemas until March 8th, 2019, before Avengers 4 arrives on May 3rd, so for now, all we can ask is that the stylish and speculative fan art keeps on coming.
