The King of the Seven is ready for his close-up.
In anticipation of Aquaman‘s big trailer reveal at San Diego Comic-Con later this week, director James Wan has shared an early glimpse of what appears to be the undisputed money shot.
Lean a little closer and you’ll see that the following pic down below places Jason Momoa’s hero front and center, as he commands the sea and its underwater creatures. Trident in hand, this Aquaman sneak peek looks as though it’s been ripped straight from the comic books, which only leaves us all the more excited for the film’s SDCC moment.
It’s been a long time coming, but it appears as though James Wan and his editing team are finally – finally! – ready to showcase their wares, beginning with some footage that will no doubt bring Hall H to its feet in just a few days’ time.
Here’s what Wan teased over on Twitter:
Working overtime to put the finishing touches for this coming week!! Eeeeeee
Bouncing off Jason Momoa’s turn in Justice League – not to mention that brief cameo during Batman V Superman – Aquaman promises a deep dive into Arthur Curry’s universe, and all of the promotional material thus far points to a visually stunning adventure, one which has even evoked comparisons to Star Wars. You know what they say about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery…
Aquaman is all set for its maiden voyage on December 21st, and only then will we know if Warner Bros.’ reconfiguration of the DCEU is off on the right foot. Other comic book movies in the pipeline include Shazam!, which has also booked its place at SDCC, along with the Patty Jenkins-directed sequel, Wonder Woman 1984.
