Though they’ve been hard at work on Avengers 4 ever since Infinity War flickered into life, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are expected to get the gang back together for some additional filming “in a month or so.”
Word comes by way of Deadline (h/t Heroic Hollywood), who spoke to Joe Russo in anticipation of Syfy drama Deadly Class. He’s one half of the filmmaking duo responsible for The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Infinity War, along with the latter’s so-far untitled sequel, so it’s fair to say that Russo knows a thing or two about Marvel Studios and its well-oiled movie machine.
So while Ant-Man and the Wasp is currently playing in theaters across the globe – save for the United Kingdom, where Peyton Reed’s follow-up is due to drop on August 3rd – the film giant is making preparations for Avengers 4 and with it, the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe… so far.
Plot details are few and far between, but according to Joe Russo, there’s still some work to be done before the pic is across the finish line.
We’ve been in post-production on it since the release of Infinity War and we’ve got some additional photography that we’re doing in a month or so.
That’s not all that surprising, really, as both Joe and Anthony Russo have been telegraphing Avengers 4‘s post-production schedule for weeks – if not months – and we always predicted a summer full of reshoots and pick-ups for the untitled MCU sequel.
If nothing else, this last-minute spell of additional photography may very well yield new details, as a film of this size and scope tends to attract curious set photographers hoping to capture Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in action.
Stay tuned for more on that front and remember, Avengers 4 will be with us on May 3rd, 2019.
