Amidst the morally dubious antics of the first two Deadpool movies, Colossus held a continuous presence as the voice of reason, making persistent and often fruitless attempts to steer Wade Wilson in the right direction while serving as a welcome comedic straight man throughout all the carnage. So if the Merc with a Mouth is to make a return in the planned X-Force film, it would be only fitting if the metal man with a heart of gold should come along for the ride.
Given the pair’s rocky history, any part that Piotr Nikolayevich Rasputin will play in another Deadpool story will probably be under protest, but at least actor Stefan Kapicic seems pretty game for it. While the star of Deadpool 2 doesn’t seem to know much more about the upcoming project than we do, Kapicic made his X-Force endorsement at the San Diego Comic-Con, saying:
“The only thing that I know and everybody knows, that we have a third director now — after [Deadpool director] Tim Miller and [Deadpool 2 director] David Leitch — and Drew Goddard is an amazing guy and an amazing director.”
Though the The Cabin in the Woods helmsman currently has his hands full with another pic, Kapicic believes that the ball will truly get rolling once he’s finished with it.
“We still don’t know what’s going on with the script because he’s still working on [Bad Times at the El Royale], and when he’s done with that, I think that he’s starting to develop whatever he has right now.”
Whatever happens next, the actor seems confident that Colossus won’t be missing out on the mayhem.
“So nobody’s sure what’s gonna happen, but I’m not doubting it. I know after Deadpool 2, all these things that are happening in the movie, it’s kind of natural to have Colossus be a part of X-Force.”
Evidently, the X-Force movie is still in its early stages, but you can revisit the team’s origins when Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut hits Digital on August 7th and Blu-ray and DVD on August 21st.
