Iron Fist season 2 has a ton of work to do in making up for the disappointment of season 1. Thankfully, though, it looks like it might just manage it. After a great guest spot in Luke Cage season 2, the character of Danny Rand seems to be fixed and we’re cautiously optimistic about where the showrunners will take him next.
Of course, in addition to a stronger personality for the hero and an awesome new antagonist for Danny to fight against, something else fans want to see in season 2 is Iron Fist’s classic yellow and green costume, which he never donned in the show’s rookie outing. We’ve heard that it’s definitely on the way in some form though, and while we still don’t have a look at the full thing just yet, we do get to see the mask in this new teaser that Netflix released today, which features Danny and Davos engaged in some ritualistic style combat, with both of them wearing yellow over their eyes.
Not much else is shown here, as the promo’s mostly centered around this memory our hero has of what appears to be a pretty bloody fight, but from everything we’ve been told so far, Iron Fist season 2 promises to be a drastic improvement over its predecessor, which failed to live up to the hype and excitement generated by its peers – namely Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.
Nevertheless, September’s hotly-anticipated season heralds an opportunity to make things right and maybe – just maybe – leave the door open for a potential Heroes for Hire team-up series. Or, failing that, something relating to the Daughters of the Dragon, given Colleen Wing and Misty Knight’s increased roles. We live in hope.
Per Netflix:
Season 2 furthers the transformation of Danny, a character with a fish out of water coming of age story making his way in a harsh new world, battling to work out who he is. This season, Danny has promised that with Matt Murdock gone, he will step up and protect his city. But a sinister plot twist threatens his very identity and he must conquer his villains to protect the town and people he holds close to his heart.
Look for Iron Fist season 2 to hit the streaming service on September 7th.
