Towards the end of The Flash season 4, we found out a shocking revelation about Caitlin Snow. When Cisco helped her uncover a repressed memory, it turned out that her icy-powered alter ego Killer Frost has been with her since she was a child and was not a product of the particle accelerator as previously established. Now, we expect to find out more about Caitlin’s past in season 5, and this new casting call seems to support that.
That Hashtag Show has got hold of a character breakdown for Dr. Thomas Snow, Caitlin’s estranged father, as The Flash is currently looking for “a Caucasian male in his 50’s” to play him. The description teases that Thomas will return to the lives of his wife and daughter and attempt to make peace, but he’s still withholding a dangerous secret.
“Described as a Caucasian male in his 50’s, Dr. Snow is an extremely intelligent geneticist who has been MIA for a few decades. As he returns to Central City, Dr. Snow will do his best to make up for lost time with his daughter Caitlin and his wife Carla. But what they don’t know about Thomas is that he is keeping a big and mysterious secret.”
While it hasn’t been confirmed just yet, this breakdown heavily suggests that Caitlin’s mother, Carla Tannhauser, as played by Susan Walters, will return for season 5, too. The character hasn’t been seen since her recurring status in season 3, which revealed that Caitlin doesn’t have a close relationship with her mom, but presumably we’ll soon find out what happened in her past to tear her family apart. And how it is that Caitlin could’ve been a metahuman since childhood.
Speaking of Caitlin, actress Danielle Panabaker is set to direct an episode of The Flash season 5. Specifically, episode 18, which will mark her directorial debut. The actress has also hinted that Caitlin will be on a mission to get Killer Frost back after the Thinker apparently “murdered” her alternate personality last season. Maybe the introduction of her father will shed some light on the key to resurrecting her metahuman other half? We’ll just have to wait and see.
