Yes, after much speculation and worry, Netflix has announced this week that the third outing of the beloved Marvel show will premiere in the second half of 2018. Unfortunately, the streaming site stopped short of revealing an exact date for when we can expect it, but here’s what CEO Ted Sarandos had to share:

“In the short term, we’ve got new seasons coming up, in the second half of this year, of Orange is the New Black, Ozark, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Narcos, the finale of House of Cards, the follow-up series to Making a Murderer.”

This follows on from recent comments made by Netflix VP of Original Content Cindy Holland, who told Deadline the following recently:

“The biggest issue was the timing of production and launching of The Defenders because what that meant is we had to shut down all of the shows, so all the actors be available for The Defenders so it’s more function of that. There is no problem with this season, I think it’s fantastic, it’s real return to form in my view.”

We certainly hope she’s right about season 3 being a return to form. After all, the last solo outing for the character wasn’t quite up to par with his rookie run but thankfully, this next batch of episodes sounds promising. For one, we know that Matt Murdock’s visually impaired crusader will surely be crossing paths with Vincent D’Onofrio’s scenery-chewing baddie, Wilson Fisk, once more, while chances are Marvel’s Kingpin will be facing trial.

Throw in the fact that given where Murdock was left in the finale of The Defenders leads us to believe that this new run will loosely adapt the “Born Again” storyline from the comics, and that we have Winston Bethel stepping into the role of the deadshot assassin Bullseye, and you have all the makings of what should be a pretty great season for Daredevil when it returns to Netflix later this year.
