Titles For New Star Trek TV Shows Possibly Revealed

The titles for two new Star Trek TV shows appear to have been revealed this week thanks to some registrations with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Encouraged by the continued success of Discovery, not to mention Patrick Stewart’s decision to reprise the role of Jean-Luc Picard, CBS TV Studios president David Stapf hopes to double down on the Star Trek universe moving forward.

As a matter of fact, while chatting to Deadline the other week, Stapf outlined his goal to have something from the Trek universe playing on CBS All Access at all times – be it an episode of Discovery, the newfangled continuation of Picard’s intergalactic story or any of the unannounced projects that the network’s cooking up for us, Stapf wants fans to be able to enjoy Star Trek round the clock… 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What these yet to be revealed shows may revolve around is anyone’s guess, but thanks to some registrations with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, we might now have some clues. From what we understand, both Star Trek: Destiny and Star Trek: Reliant have been registered, which means that these are very likely the titles for two of CBS’ planned series.

As for what they tell us, well, as TrekNews.com points out, Reliant is the name of Khan’s stolen Federation ship from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which only fuels speculation that the network’s planning a show based on the aforementioned character. Destiny, meanwhile, is much more vague and could be referring to any number of things. Perhaps it’s the title for Patrick Stewart’s recently announced Trek project, though?

Chalk that up as speculation for now, as details on Jean-Luc Picard’s comeback remain under wraps. Closer to home, though, Star Trek: Discovery beams onto CBS All Access for its second season in January 2019, and it’ll be doing so with Ethan Peck on board as Starfleet science officer, Spock. And isn’t that exciting?
