Entertainment Weekly has returned from Hell’s Kitchen bearing gifts – specifically, two new photos from Daredevil season 3, which is officially heading to Netflix next month.
The first signals a somewhat awkward reunion between Foggy Nelson and Matt Murdock, who was right to assume that his best friend and co-worker had died following the calamitous events of The Defenders. To make matters worse, Murdock chose to keep his survival a secret, which, as series showrunner Erik Oleson (Arrow) tells Entertainment Weekly, is enough to thrust a wedge between the childhood buddies.

Foggy has been trying to move on from Matt’s memory, or at least move on with his life. If you thought one of your close friends was dead and he decided not to tell you he survived, you would probably have some issues with that.
It’s no wonder Foggy looks utterly distraught in EW’s exclusive photos, while the second shifts the focus over to the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, who has clearly reverted to his classic black costume in time for Daredevil season 3. This wardrobe change mirrors the whole ‘back to basics’ approach that Marvel and Netflix are aiming for, and word around town is that next month’s installment is perhaps the perfect palate cleanser after The Defenders and, let’s face it, a pretty mediocre spell of Iron Fist.
And Wilson Fisk? Well, he’s even more formidable now that he’s back pulling the strings in Hell’s Kitchen. Or so says Oleson:
Fisk has gotten smarter, more calculated, and more manipulative. I very much wanted to tell a story that’s relevant to the world around us. I looked at the show as a way to examine how tyrants manipulate in order to push their own agenda and cause fear and distrust.
Pitched as a loose adaptation of Frank Miller’s iconic “Born Again” comic, all 13 episodes of Daredevil season 3 will be with us on October 19th.
