This year’s Arrowverse crossover should have no problem going down as one of the most exciting in The CW’s superhero universe so far. I mean, not only do we have the debut of Batwoman (as played by Ruby Rose) to look forward to, but Tyler Hoechlin is also set to fly by as Superman, marking the first time that the Man of Steel will be teaming up with the likes of Green Arrow and the Flash.
What’s more, Clark Kent’s iconic love interest, Lois Lane, will also be making her Arrowverse debut. Other members of the Lane family have popped up along the way – in Supergirl season 1, Lois’ sister Lucy was portrayed by Jenna Dewan and her father General Sam Lane (Glenn Morshower) also played a supporting role – but the Daily Planet’s finest reporter has been absent over the past few years.
But now she’s getting ready to show her face and today brings us an awesome new photo which unites Supergirl, Superman and Lois, with the three of them pictured at what could be the grounds of the Kent farm. The caption – Two kryptonians and a journalist walk into a crossover – doesn’t tell us much about what’s going on here or reveal any juicy plot details, but it’s nice to see them together nonetheless.
For those who don’t know, this year’s crossover is titled “Elseworlds,” which is a nod to DC’s line of comics that include fan favorites like Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, Superman: Red Son and Kingdom Come, each of which brought us alternate takes on some of the company’s most iconic heroes. It’s pretty much been replaced by the new Black Label imprint, but the legacy lives on through television.
Already, we know there’s going to be some wild stuff going down during the crossover, with previous photos showing us Superman in his black suit and a poster featuring Barry Allen as Green Arrow and Oliver Queen as the Flash – yes, you read that right. How this all fits together, not to mention how Batwoman will get involved with everything, remains to be seen, but as we inch closer and closer to the big event, you can definitely say that anticipation is at sky high levels, and rightfully so.
The Arrowverse crossover gets underway on Sunday, December 9th with The Flash. Following that, it’ll continue on Monday, December 10th with Arrow, and wrap up on Tuesday, December 11th with Supergirl.
