The Arrowverse shows have always liked to keep it in the family. Melissa Benoist’s ex-husband Blake Jenner appeared on Supergirl season 1, Brandon Routh’s wife Courtney Ford has played Nora Darhk on Legends of Tomorrow for the past couple of seasons and now, Stephen Amell’s real-life partner Cassandra Jean Amell is joining the DC shared universe for a role in the upcoming “Elseworlds” crossover.
What’s more, she’s playing a familiar part in DC lore. Amell will portray Nora Fries in the three-episode event, the character most known as the frozen wife of Batman villain Mr. Freeze who has a deadly disease that Victor’s trying to cure. It’s unknown exactly what role the Arrowverse’s Nora will have in “Elseworlds,” but it’s likely that she’ll get more to do than float around in a tube of ice.
Earlier this week, Stephen Amell took to Twitter to share a shot of his and his wife’s chairs perched next to each other on set. He captioned the image: “Teamwork makes the dream work.” It sounds to us like the man who plays Green Arrow is teasing that he gets to share at least one scene with his wife in the Supergirl episode of the crossover, though details beyond that remain scarce.
Seeing as it features the debut of Batwoman, “Elseworlds” is believed to be predominantly set in Gotham City and specifically, the Gotham City of Earth-38, Supergirl’s home. With Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane getting her own spinoff show next year, we wouldn’t be surprised if the crossover sets up a few characters who’ll be back in her own series. Maybe Amell’s Nora Fries is one of them?
The Arrowverse event boasts an all-star cast that also includes guest stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as Superman and Lois Lane and LaMonica Garrett as powerful cosmic entity the Monitor. And it all kicks off with The Flash on December 9th on The CW.
