All signs are pointing to us getting ever closer to the release of the first trailer for Avengers 4. Unusually for a Marvel movie, though, we’re not just excited to see some footage from the film but we’d also quite like to know what it’s actually called. Ever since Infinity War, fans have been theorizing about what would be the most dramatic title possible and the top contender right now is Avengers: Annihilation, which numerous sources have claimed is the official moniker.
MCU Cosmic originally told us that Annihilation was what Marvel had decided to go with and now they’ve come forward with new evidence to back up their claims. In the latest episode of the MCU Cosmic Cast on YouTube, Jeremy Conrad explained some more about the context behind his prior report that the trailer will be arriving in late November and will reveal Annihilation as the title.
Based initially on comments made on Russian social media site VK, Conrad says he reached out to his sources to confirm that the title is correct and not only did that source corroborate the claim, but he also contacted another source to make sure that Annihilation was the title and they allegedly replied: “I can read and I’m not blind.” Presumably, that means the name of the movie will be revealed in the first trailer.
So, there you go, folks, it looks like it really is called Avengers: Annihilation, after all. On the one hand, it’s sort of surprising that Marvel would use up this title on a film that’s totally unrelated to the comic book event that bears the same name, but it’s likely that when Avengers 4 was being developed no one thought that, in a few years’ time, they’d be able to faithfully adapt the storyline which involves the Fantastic Four and other Fox properties, seeing as Disney will soon hoover up the studio and get those rights back.
Regardless, we’ll find out for sure when the Avengers 4 trailer arrives later this month, and if MCU Cosmic is right, it’ll apparently be attached to a football game.
