One of the many, many treats awaiting DC fans in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover “Elseworlds” is the return of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman.
Part of the excitement surrounding his role is that he’ll appear – at least for part of the event – as his own dark doppelganger, complete with the iconic black suit. We’ve got a good look at the costume already thanks to some set photos but Arrow star Stephen Amell has now allowed us a glimpse at how it’ll appear in action.
Taking to Twitter, the actor shared the photo in the gallery below. “Viewing party,” he wrote for the caption, while posting a snap of a TV screen featuring Hoechlin as the evil Supes. In addition to that, he shared another shot of the screen as well, featuring Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl.
As we know, “Elseworlds” will see Green Arrow and the Flash swap identities, with Amell and Grant Gustin getting to try on the other’s costume. You might think that the evil Superman would be a similar result of this weird reality change but set photos have seen the regular blue and red hero battling his own evil twin. As such, it looks like the dark Superman is from another Earth out there in the Multiverse.
In regards to the regular Last Son of Krypton, he’ll be accompanied by Lois Lane, as played by Elizabeth Tulloch, making her Arrowverse debut. We’ll also get to see the couple at home on the Kent Farm, with the same location fans will remember from Smallville returning. This marks the first time Superman has appeared on The CW since Supergirl season 2 and the first time ever that he’ll interact with the rest of the Arrowverse’s heroes.
Elsewhere in “Elseworlds,” we have Ruby Rose’s Batwoman making her grand entrance, bringing the fan favorite locations of Gotham City and Arkham Asylum with her, and John Wesley Shipp is answering fans’ prayers by coming back as his 1990s version of the Flash. Not to mention the cosmic side of the DC universe will be touched on as well with the introduction of the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett).
It’s all very exciting, and there’s only a couple more weeks to go now until “Elseworlds” kicks off with an episode of The Flash on Sunday, December 9th.
