Avengers: Endgame Trailer May Have Revealed How Captain America Dies

Anyone who remembers the fake Hulk scene from the Avengers: Infinity War trailer will likely be wary of reading too much into the Avengers: Endgame teaser for potential spoilers, but you can bet that the fans are going to try their best regardless, even if two-and-a-half minutes of potentially misleading footage is all they’ve got to go on. For one thing, the preview’s shot of an old photo of Peggy Carter continues to spawn theories that the end is nigh for Steve Rogers, with a new post on Reddit even suggesting how exactly the character might go.

As you may recall, Steve had this picture on the control panel of Red Skull’s ship at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger, when the character made a heroic self-sacrifice that would ultimately lead to his ‘rebirth’ for 2012’s The Avengers. It’s therefore understandable that fans would predict a level of symmetry in Endgame, as Cap looks once more on the image of his first love before meeting his demise.

This new theory, however, goes as far as guessing the very nature of Steve’s death sequence, speculating that our hero will once more fly a ship to his doom while looking at the picture of Peggy, and to be fair, the trailer does seem to suggest that Cap will be in another aircraft of some sort.

It’s not the most unreasonable of predictions, even if the evidence for it is very thin. Still, we can’t help but recall co-director Joe Russo’s statement that Chris Evans is “not done yet” and think that maybe Steve has more of a future in him than much of the internet suspects. Granted, this would hardly be the first time that the team at Marvel has fibbed a little to throw off the theorists, but we’ll find out Cap’s fate either way when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
