Anyone who kept track of the various build-ups and letdowns leading up to the recent Avengers: Endgame teaser will know that trailer predictions should always be taken with a grain of salt, and this new report about the first preview for Star Wars: Episode IX is definitely no exception. Still, if the previous rumors that the footage will be dropping by Christmas are anything to go by, perhaps it’s not completely absurd to think that we’ll be getting our first official look at J.J. Abrams’ next film as soon as this Wednesday.
A new piece from the Express offers a variety of reasons for why the trailer could only be a couple of days away. For one thing, it’s alleged from unsubstantiated reports that cinemas already have the secretly coded preview. It’s also observed that December 19th is a significant date for Star Wars-related reasons, in that it’s the day on which the last issue of the Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith comic comes out, and in 2019, it’s the day where previews are scheduled to screen prior to the film’s proper release.
Lastly, it’s said that Disney may want to drop the Episode IX footage before Mary Poppins Returns has its first weekend in cinemas to avoid splitting the public’s attention
All in all, this seems like a very thin basis for a prediction of this Wednesday, but who knows, maybe there’s a reason why the internet keeps guessing that the trailer will arrive in the next week or so. Either way, we still have a lot of waiting to do before Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019, but until then, you can expect the rumors and the speculation to keep on coming.
