Star Wars Rebels Actress Is Hoping For A Live-Action Sabine Wren Spinoff

In the eyes of Lucasfilm and the average moviegoer, the Star Wars films have always taken priority over the TV shows, but as the cameo from Maul in Solo: A Star Wars Story made all too clear, the studio is still willing to incorporate major developments from their animated projects into their cinematic works. With that in mind, it’s surely not unthinkable that Sabine Wren of Star Wars Rebels fame might some day make the jump to live-action, and should that day ever come, actress Tiya Sircar would be more than happy to reprise her role.

A recent Twitter exchange started with a fan asking Sircar if she’d be “at all opposed” to playing the young Mandalorian once more, to which she responded:

“Opposed?! On the contrary, I am seriously trying to will the Universe to allow a live-action Sabine story to be told and for me to be the one to get to tell it (as Sabine, of course).  #fingersandtoescrossed”

It’s a long shot, but going by the tweet’s replies, there are a lot of fans out there who are right there with her in crossing their fingers and toes.

Incidentally, the character of Sabine came up just last week in a report from the set of The Mandalorian. It seems that the tech used for the show’s VFX is incorporating the design of the character’s helmet, and while the report stressed that the headwear could just be a placeholder, the development has still fired up the imaginations of some fans, with one theory being that Gina Carano could actually be the one to assume the role.

So far, the evidence remains thin for such a claim, but this isn’t the first time the internet has suggested that a Star Wars Rebels character could be making the jump to live-action, and it probably won’t be the last, either. Though we don’t have much to go on, surely fans can still hold onto the hope that The Mandalorian or Star Wars: Episode IX will have a pleasant surprise or two in store when they drop next year.
