The recent Arrowverse crossover “Elseworlds” was a huge hit with DC TV fans as it united the heroes of Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl together for yet another multiversal thrilling three-part adventure. In fact, it was such a success that The CW will be re-airing it next month.
According to the latest prime-time listings, the network will rerun all three episodes of the crossover over the course of January 7th and 8th, instead of spreading them across a trio of evenings as they did with the original airing earlier in December.
There was a lot to take in during “Elseworlds,” so it’s definitely worth rewatching the event. The central premise of the crossover was that Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen and Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen had swapped identities, due to the reality-warping machinations of cosmic entity the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) and his stooge Dr. John Deegan (Jeremy Davies).
There was a lot of other stuff in there, too, though. For one, it also introduced Batwoman into the Arrowverse, with Ruby Rose making her debut as Kate Kane a year before she’s set to get her own spinoff show. What’s more, John Wesley Shipp returned as the Flash from the classic 1990s series, marking the first time that the franchise has officially crossed over with other iterations of the DC universe. Fingers crossed for a Smallville reunion next time.
And speaking of next time, “Elseworlds” also did a fair amount of heavy lifting for next year’s big crossover, which was revealed at the end of the event to be “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” Fans have been waiting for The CW to tackle this one for a while now, as it’s been teased since The Flash season 1, so hopefully it’ll live up to the hype and end up being the best Arrowverse crossover yet.
