Batman Debuts In New Gotham Promo

If you tuned in for tonight's outing of Gotham, then you participated in the first part of what's sure to be one hell of a ride. Hey, if the brief flash forward showing Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Penguin and Riddler fighting side by side in order to stave off an invading army didn't grab your interest, I don't know what will.

Hey, if the brief flash forward showing Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Penguin and Riddler fighting side by side in order to stave off an invading army didn’t grab your interest, I don’t know what will.

When it came to what’s going on in the present day, there was most certainly much to offer in that regard. In short, we saw how the city is getting by following the events of “No Man’s Land,” with guys like Scarecrow ravaging the streets. Not only that, but the producers showed us they’re playing for keeps by allowing for a longstanding character such as Tabitha Galavan to be killed off.

Obviously, I’m coming back for more next week. But if you require more incentive, simply check out the promo for “Tresspassers” found at the top of this article. To be honest, it more so seems like a teaser for what’s to come for the remainder of this season rather than next week’s episode specifically, but I’m jazzed all the same.

The reason I say that is because Jeremiah Valeska heavily factors into the footage, and he’s likely not returning until the third episode. Furthermore, his showdown with Bruce Wayne taking place at ACE Chemicals isn’t slated to go down for another two weeks beyond that. Plus, Shane West won’t be suiting up as Bane until much further down the road.

But if anything’s going to turn heads, it’s most definitely the silhouette of Batman seen near the end of the trailer. Right now, my gut tells me that’s actually taken from the series finale, which has already been filmed. I know, peeping this now makes the springtime conclusion seem like an eternity away, but the journey there should be all the more satisfying.

For more on “Tresspassers,” be sure to check out the official synopsis:

Gordon and Bullock (Donal Logue) investigate a location where several kids have been kidnapped. Barbara (Erin Richards) proves to be an unlikely ally to Gordon. Meanwhile, Bruce looks into an alleged witch with healing powers for Selina (Camren Bicondova), and Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) deals with demons of his own.

Gotham airs on Thursday nights on Fox.
