Spider-Man: Far From Home’s Set After Avengers: Endgame For A Specific Reason

Spider-Man: Far From Home is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, and that's for a very specific reason, apparently.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home released earlier this week, and as much as fans are excited for the movie itself, one of the biggest talking points is the argument over where it comes in MCU continuity. As Spidey and Nick Fury died in Avengers: Infinity War, their presence in FFH rather suggests that the sequel takes place prior to IW or that it picks up after Avengers: Endgame, which would mean it confirms Peter and Fury are resurrected.

So far, reports are saying that it’s actually the latter option, and Far From Home does follow on from Endgame. MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad is someone who’s sticking to this story, too, claiming that this has to be the case as there’s a very specific reason as to why the next Spider-Man movie follows on from Endgame.

He wouldn’t say more than that, but one common idea is that Tony Stark’s dead by the time of the film, as his absence from the narrative seems conspicuous given his close relationship with the wall-crawler in previous installments. That would be a pretty big reason why FFH can’t be set before IW. After all, Robert Downey Jr.’s contract is up following April’s concluding chapter of Phase 3.

We’ve also been told that Far From Home opens up just a few minutes after Endgame finishes. This has led to all sorts of fan theories, including fueling the common concept that Endgame will totally alter the timeline and wipe the dustings from ever having happened. Leaving Peter Parker to go on a vacation around Europe with his pals, apparently.

Whatever the case, we’ll find out the truth when Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 5th.
