It’s been almost three months since filming began on Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), and it seems that principal photography for the upcoming DC flick has finally come to an end.
The announcement comes to us via the Instagram of Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment company, which shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Robbie in her Harley Quinn costume, along with the caption, “That’s a wrap!” On the back of the star’s chair, you can see what appears to be the logo for Cathy Yan’s film.
Appropriately enough, Robbie is pictured wearing the same colorful outfit she sported in the very first set photo, shared back in January. Since then, the production has yielded a generous array of behind-the-scenes images showing off the main line-up for the DCEU’s next release.
As the Clown Princess of Crime breaks away from the Joker, the feature will see her team up with Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya, played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Rosie Perez, respectively. On villain duties, meanwhile, is Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis, aka Black Mask. According early reports, the film’s main heroines will have to band together to protect Cassandra Cain, played by Ella Jay Basco, after she’s threatened by the Gotham City crime lord.
While Harley is set to be the star of the pic, it’s no coincidence that the character is doing two team-up movies in a row. Indeed, Robbie herself told Collider last year that she didn’t ever want to see Harley do her own solo flick, explaining that she “needs friends” and “loves interacting with people.” We’ll find out how she settles in with her new colleagues when Birds of Prey hits theaters on February 7th, 2020.
