Gwyneth Paltrow’s been in plenty of superhero movies over the years. Dating back to the original Iron Man in 2008, the Academy Award winning actress has gone on to star in no less than seven Marvel flicks before ending her run with Avengers: Endgame.
It’s understandable that she may not be able to remember every second of every film then, but completely forgetting the fact that she appeared in one altogether is pretty shocking. Yet, that’s exactly what happened when her and frequent co-star Jon Favreau were discussing Spider-Man: Homecoming at the premiere of the director’s new Netflix project The Chef Show.
Paltrow’s MCU character Pepper Potts made a cameo in the final scene as Tony Stark was introducing everyone’s favorite web-slinger to the public. This was apparently news to the actress though, who had no idea that she popped up in the movie at all.
When Favreau continually insists to her that they did show up in Homecoming, Paltrow doubles down on her denial. She reminds her colleague that they were in the Avengers movies together, but repeatedly insists that she was never in any Spider-Man film. After some debate, Favreau finally is able to convince her that they were indeed in the pic together.

In Paltrow’s defense, Marvel does have a penchant for shooting scenes and not telling the talent what films they’re actually for. In Captain Marvel, for example, Brie Larson recorded the pivotal post-credits without any context. It’s highly possible that the same thing happened in this scenario, too.
That being said, Paltrow never shared that many scenes with Tom Holland during her time in the MCU, so it seems like she probably should’ve remembered being in the movie, especially if she later watched it with her kids.
Looking ahead, though, and Spider-Man: Far From Home, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, is swinging into theaters on July 2nd. While Paltrow may be retired from Marvel, it’s possible that she’ll surprise audiences by rearing her head one last time as Pepper Potts. Even if she does appear though, it seems she won’t be likely to remember.
