They say a rolling stone gathers no moss. Apparently, neither does The Rock, who’s on one hell of a roll. Along with Keanu Reeves, Dwayne Johnson is one of the busiest guys in Hollywood these days. According to his IMDb page, Black Adam is in pre-production and Jumanji 3 is wrapping up, and if you believe the rumors circulating on the internet, he might also be joining the MCU as The Thing in the (again, rumored) Fantastic Four reboot.
Right now, it’s totally and unequivocally an unverified rumor, much like whether or not we’re even getting another F4. But recently, Johnson posted a video on his Instagram where he talked about a meeting with Kevin Feige, which only fueled the fire. The latest chatter is that he’ll be lending his voice to The Thing, or maybe even playing Ben Grimm in both human and rock form.
This comes from Roger Wardell’s Twitter account, and given that the alleged Marvel insider has been right about Avengers-related rumors before, it’s worth taking what he says here seriously.
The Rock's "Marvel role" is just another Vin Diesel situation, trying to build hype to get a meeting with Marvel.

While Wardell doesn’t spell out what role The Rock’s up for, the Vin Diesel comparison makes it pretty obvious and sources close to We Got This Covered have also confirmed that Marvel’s indeed interested in the actor and his involvement with them may be like Diesel’s – a voice-only part.
Another fact that makes us think Johnson will join the franchise soon as The Thing? There’ve been a number of actors who’ve appeared as superheroes in both the MCU and DCEU. We know that Black Adam is already in the works, and it just makes sense for the Hollywood superstar to show up in both universes, right? Seeing how well voicing Groot has worked out for his Fast & Furious co-star Diesel, we might be hearing Johnson yelling “it’s clobberin’ time” pretty soon.
Tell us, though, what Marvel role do you think The Rock should snag, if not The Thing, in the possible Fantastic Four reboot? Let’s see if we can’t start some rumors in the comments section down below.
