While one could make the point that he’s been eclipsed and overshadowed by (at least one of) his siblings, it would be hard to argue that Liam Hemsworth hasn’t seen success within Hollywood. The younger brother of Chris (yep, the one who plays Thor) and Luke (Ashley Stubbs on HBO’s Westworld), Liam was propelled to success after landing the role of Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games films, where he starred alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson.
Since the franchise wrapped up, Liam has been taking things easy, though he did appear in Independence Day: Resurgence and Isn’t It Romantic, the latter of which released earlier this year. It’s not entirely clear what his future plans are (he seems to be enjoying the married life with singer/songwriter Miley Cyrus, though), but it looks like a few Hollywood execs are eying him to join the MCU.
As we recently reported, one of our industry insiders spilled the beans on Marvel’s planned Fantastic Four reboot, which would (hopefully) wipe away the sour taste left in our mouths from the 2005 and 2015 movies. It’s by no means set in stone, but it seems that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are being eyed for the role of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, respectively. Similarly, it looks like the studio is interested in a few young actors to play the role of the Human Torch, including Liam Hemsworth.
It certainly would be an interesting pick. The youngest Hemsworth has proved his worth by starring in major franchises already, and we can’t help but think that MCU fans would love to see Chris’ younger brother join the Disney family. Unfortunately for now, these rumors remain to be confirmed by Kevin Feige and co., as details are scarce on the Fantastic Four reboot, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated on new information as it comes down the pipeline.
