Fantastic Four Writer Wants Riverdale Star As The MCU’s Human Torch

With the Disney-Fox merger handing the Fantastic Four back to Marvel Studios, it's only a matter of time before the First Family are introduced into the MCU. So who could play the team? Well, the internet has been in agreement for a while now that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt would be the perfect Reed Richards and Sue Storm. As for the Thing, a fun rumor has been circling of late that Dwayne Johnson could play him. But what about Johnny Storm/The Human Torch?

Well, the internet has been in agreement for a while now that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt would be the perfect Reed Richards and Sue Storm. And as for the Thing, a fun rumor has been circling of late that Dwayne Johnson could portray the character. But what about Johnny Storm/the Human Torch?

Fans have yet to come up with one firm favorite ideal casting, but here’s another name that someone who should know what they’re talking about has thrown into the ring. Marvel comics writer Dan Slott, who currently helms the Fantastic Four book, wrote on Twitter that he thinks Riverdale star KJ Apa would be a great fit for the young hothead.

Slott’s caption makes it clear that he knows the internet’s strong feelings on The CW’s adaptation of Archie Andrews means not everyone will take to this idea but honestly, you can see where he’s coming from. Apa’s got the look and his take on Archie shares some similar personality traits with Johnny. Plus, at 22 years old, he’s exactly the right age to be snapped up by Marvel so that he can star in a ton of movies.

Other actors previously linked to the role by fans include Dave Franco and Zac Efron, with some recent intel pointing to the studio eyeing Liam Hemsworth (as in brother of Chris “Thor” Hemsworth). As for Apa, a lot of superhero fans have said he’d be a perfect fit for Wally West’s Flash over with DC. That could be a possibility, too, as Warner Bros. is thinking of replacing Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen with the Wally version.

Tell us, though, do you think the Riverdale star would make a good Human Torch in a Fantastic Four reboot? Let us know in the comments section below.
