One of the best parts of Netflix’s frightening horror series The Haunting of Hill House is the performances given by the talented cast. Now that the miniseries is preparing for a second chapter with an entirely new plot and different scares, fans are understandably worried that many of those actors will be gone. The good news is that at least one familiar face will be returning for The Haunting of Bly Manor.
It’s recently been announced that Victoria Pendretti, who memorably starred as Nell last season, will be brought back to headline the upcoming batch of episodes. Other cast members have also been rumored to return, though nothing is official on them just yet.
While the first chapter of the anthology series was loosely based off of Shirley Jackson’s terrifying novel of the same name, the second will reportedly be adapted from Henry James’ horror novella The Turning of the Screw. The tale focuses on a governess caring for two children who becomes convinced that the remote estate they inhabit is actually haunted. It’s often heralded as one of the scariest tales ever written.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen, known for playing the adult version of Luke, has promised that the next story told onscreen will be “incredible.” It’s currently unknown if he’ll also be brought back alongside his former co-star, though fans are hopeful. It’s already been reported that Carla Gugino may unexpectedly return for the second go-round, but that also remains to be seen.
Now that Pendretti has been tapped to headline, announcements for the other actors who are tied to the project should be coming soon. And if the second season is anything close to the first, then viewers will be in for quite the treat.
Filming for The Haunting of Bly Manor will begin in September with the release expected to come some time in 2020. As always, watch this space for more.
