If you’re any way interested in cinematic horror, we’re willing to bet that It: Chapter Two‘s bum-numbing runtime (spoilers: it’s two hours and 45 minutes) left you giddy with excitement.
This is, after all, one of the biggest horror films of the year, so it’s refreshing to note that Warner Bros. and New Line plan to go all-in for what is undoubtedly the final chapter in the Pennywise saga. How will it end? That we don’t know, but we can tell you with absolute certainty that a Director’s Cut is coming, and it’ll seemingly be packed with “amazing scenes” that have been carefully withheld from the theatrical release.
Or so says producer Barbara Muschietti, who told Digital Spy that Chapter Two‘s massive scope merits a Director’s Cut, and that fans ought to be immensely excited (and maybe even a little scared) about the horrors to come.
We will put out a director’s cut because this time it definitely merits it. We have some amazing scenes that didn’t make it into the movie. You have to make choices sometimes and some things cannot be in this theatrical release but are definitely worthy of people seeing them at a later date.
Over 165 minutes of Pennywise will no doubt leave viewers clutching to the edge of their seats, but to know that the inevitable Blu-ray release will include a super-sized Director’s Cut gives horror super-fans the opportunity to take home something truly special – fitting, really, given this signals the curtain call for New Line’s demented saga. And what a saga it has been.
It: Chapter Two slithers out of the sewers and into theaters in time for September 9th. And if you want the perfect primer, why not revisit Chapter 1 on the big screen? It’ll even feature eight minutes of bonus footage from the upcoming sequel…
